Boglins in Cage (Mattel Vintage)
About this item
Boglins were the grotesque rubber hand puppets that terrified parents and delighted kids throughout the late 1980s. Made by Mattel, these squishy monsters with moveable eyes came in cardboard cage boxes and were designed to look as disgusting as possible. For Dutch children of the 80s, pulling a Boglin out of its cage for the first time was an unforgettable moment.
The original Boglins line ran from 1987 to 1994, with the large "Great Boglins" being the most sought-after today. Their fragile rubber bodies mean that well-preserved specimens are increasingly rare — many ended up sticky, torn, or lost to attics over the decades. Boxed examples with intact cages command serious premiums.
