Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse

The Logitech MX518 (2005) is widely considered one of the greatest gaming mice ever made. Its ergonomic right-handed shape, reliable optical sensor, and adjustable DPI made it the weapon of choice for an entire generation of PC gamers. Counter-Strike players especially swore by it, and its reputation in the competitive FPS community is legendary.

The MX518 is collectible because it's more than just a mouse — it's a piece of PC gaming history. Logitech eventually discontinued it (and later released a modernized version in 2019, which only boosted interest in the original). Original MX518s in good condition have become genuinely sought-after by retro tech collectors and nostalgic gamers who remember the feel of that perfect scroll wheel click.

When buying, test the left and right click microswitches for double-clicking issues — it's the most common failure point on aging mice. Check that the scroll wheel registers consistently and the sensor tracks smoothly. The braided cable should be free of kinks or fraying. Original packaging is rare since most people tossed the box. Watch out for the later MX518 Legendary (2019 reissue) being sold as the original — the shape is similar but it's a different product.
