Mokum Records (Vinyl)
About this item
Mokum Records was one of the most important labels in the Dutch gabber and hardcore techno scene, founded in Amsterdam in 1993. The label released groundbreaking records from artists like The Prophet, DJ Dano, and Disciples Of Annihilation. Their vinyl 12-inch singles — with that unmistakable black-and-white Mokum logo — were staples in every hardcore DJ's crate.
Mokum vinyl is collectible because the label was the sound of Amsterdam gabber. While Rotterdam had its own scene, Mokum defined the harder, rawer Amsterdam style. Many of these pressings had limited runs, and decades of DJ use means clean copies are increasingly rare. The label's catalog is a who's-who of 90s hardcore.
Condition is everything with DJ vinyl. Check for scratches, groove wear, and warping — these records were played hard in clubs and at raves. Inspect the label for writing or stickers (DJs loved marking their records). Original inner sleeves and any insert material add value. Early catalog numbers (MOK 1-50) tend to be the most sought-after among serious collectors.
