Mortal Kombat II (Mega Drive)

1990–1994

About this item

Mortal Kombat II on the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis in North America) is widely regarded as the best 16-bit port of the arcade classic. Released in 1994, it delivered all the fatalities, character roster, and fluid gameplay that made the arcade version a phenomenon — a significant upgrade over the censored first game on the platform.

The Mega Drive version is notable for its uncensored violence (unlike the SNES port of MK1) and solid conversion quality. It remains one of the most popular fighting games on the system and a staple of any serious Mega Drive collection.

Loose cartridges typically trade in the €15–€30 range, while complete-in-box copies with manual push higher. PAL versions dominate the European market, though US NTSC carts also appear regularly. Condition of the label and box art matters — this was a heavily played game, so mint copies stand out.
