Pokémon Flippo Verzameling

1995–2004

About this item

Pokémon Flippos were the crossover nobody expected: the Dutch Flippo craze (disc-shaped collectibles distributed through Smith's chips bags) collided with the Pokémon phenomenon in 1999, creating a collecting frenzy in schoolyards across the Netherlands and Belgium. Each Flippo featured a different Pokémon with stats on the back, and completing the full set became an obsession for an entire generation of kids. They were traded, flipped, and hoarded with religious intensity.

These are pure Dutch/Belgian nostalgia, and complete collections in good condition have become increasingly sought-after as that generation hits their late twenties and thirties. The appeal is the combination of two massive '90s phenomena in one distinctly local collectible. Full sets, especially with the rarer holographic or special edition Flippos, command solid prices. Partial lots still sell well if they contain the harder-to-find numbers.

When buying a Flippo lot, count them carefully and check for the rare and special editions — these are where most of the value concentrates. Condition matters: look for Flippos without scratches, chips on the edges, or faded printing. The holographic variants should still have their shine. Watch out for lots padded with common duplicates — a lot of 100 Flippos with 30 unique ones is very different from 100 unique ones. A truly complete set in a dedicated Flippo album is the ultimate find for any Dutch '90s kid.
